Personality ~REVISED~: So this world these kiddos live in is basically a PSTD-factory. All of humanity is squished inside these three walls where poverty is common and people aren't allowed to do things like read or think for themselves or anything like that. In that lovely oppressive society, Armin is totally that kid who everyone picked on in school for being shrimpy and bookish and kind of a dork about weird things -- he loves to read and think and talk about the outside world (OCEANS! DESERTS! POLAR BEARS!) with his bestest buddies, which is probably due to the fact that his parents left when he was a baby to the outside world aaaand never returned. At the beginning of the series, he's a very shy, awkward, kidlet who literally has two friends. However, after the whole "hey, these giant dudes are here and they're gonna eat your friend's mom and then there's gonna be too many people so we're gonna send everyone not in the army including your grandpa, aka your only family, off to be slaughtered" thing, Armin has to grow up really really fast. By joining the army. At the age of twelve.

Armin's been bullied and underestimated his entire life (because living in a man-eating-giant-dominated dystopia isn't hard enough) and it's made him both extremely self-deprecating and desperate to prove himself. Even though he lags behind at basically everything in basic training -- he's not strong, he's not fast, he's not good at hand-to-hand combat, etc -- he refuses to give up or quit, relying solely on sheer will and his genius mind to get him through. When more titans attack the outermost town the day after graduating, Armin doesn't hesitate for a minute before stepping up to fight. Even after his best friend is eaten in front of him, he doesn't give up. This kid's a fighter who refuses to stand down when he believes something needs to be said (as shown by him literally facing down a huge group of soldiers and cannons and guns totally unarmed) and who goes to extremes to make sure his plans succeed. But he's also very emotional when pushed beyond what he can handle -- he totally freezes up after Eren is chomped, and it takes Mikasa literally prying his weapons out of his hands to get him to snap out of it. Once he does, though, he's back to being the brilliant mastermind of the 104th again.

Basically, Armin's priorities are very simple -- while he cares deeply for the cause of humanity, if it comes down to a choice between staying loyal to the cause and his friends, he'll pick his friends every time. They're his family, they're the most important, and he was willing to desert the army in order to stay with Mikasa and Eren. Deeply loyal, protective and in-tuned to how people tick all describe Armin very well. He's also brilliant tactics-wise, with his numerous plots and strategies being adopted almost without question at this point. Altogether he's a genius mastermind of strategy wrapped in a teensy-tiny package.
Abilities/Weaknesses: lol Armin has absolutely no superhuman powers whatsoever. Granted, he's fairly well-trained in combat and whatnot, but he didn't receive outstanding grades in anything but tactics. Basically his own extraordinary ability is his mind and his ability to be reaaaaally super conniving when he wants to be. As far as weaknesses -- he's prone to second-guessing himself, not being confident and if he gets worked up to an emotional state, he tends to freeze in terror. Also talking about feelings lol. He'll probably be very clinical and technical about anything sex-related, then end up in a blushing frenzy of awkwardness once he realizes how it actually feels.

[Serious face goes here, because Armin is busy being serious. He'd initially taken up the idea of being an apprentice to...apprentice. Apprenticate? Apprentic...ation? The verb version of "apprentice". What is that? He should look it up. It might be important...

...no, wait, focusing! Armin is a serious focusing sixteen-year-old fully-grown man with serious thoughts and plots. As aforementioned, he'd seen the sign offering an apprenticeship and had gone along so he'd learn things. Therefore, waking up to a madhouse of a castle full of people copulating had been...unexpected.

Yet...well, why not, after all? Sexual behavior was one of the few things that all species shared (save for some sea creatures that reproduced asexually, but when Armin had tried to explain this to a scantily clad guard, she'd stared blankly, then asked him if he wanted a handjob or not. He had declined. Respectfully). It was perfectly natural. And if the new mistress he served was one whose craft was intercourse, then Armin intended to be the best-studied apprentice in this castle of debauchery or any other!
